I just don't get it. is it a fashion statement? My youngest son wears his pants rather low.......what's the point?!?! :wall: someone had told me it was started in prison and I cannot go into details as to what it symbolizes on a family site. :lipssealedsmilie:
I actually did some research on this particular "trend" for a fashion class. This is called jailing and it came about in the prison system of New York when the inmates belts where taken away from them. This "trend" however is starting to decline, although it may not seem like it
yes, you can. it started in the prison system because belts were not issued to prisoners despite having baggy pants (to prevent their use in violence/suicide) and it quickly made its way out of the prison system into the society of criminals, and then into the world of gangs and thugs and the like.

I work for Social Services and one of our social workers said was to signify that you were "available" (in prison) do not know if that is true but regardless, I think it looks really stupid and disgusting. JMO.
Clerks who forget to swipe the magnetic alarm strip so the alarms go off as you exit the store. I went to the pharmacy last night and the pharmicist didn't deactivate the alarm strip so when I walked down front and exited the store the flashing lights and alarm went off. I didn't stop - I never do, if they're too stupid to deactivate their security strips they can come chase me, they never do. It always amazes me when other people stop and are all embarassed and go back and have their packages checked.

I spent from 2003 until 2006 in prison, both minimum and maximum security and I never heard that. Probably just some social worker who thinks they know but really don't
Being asked as I leave a store by someone standing there at the door if they can check my receipt... At Sam's club and places where I pay a membership, it is part of it so I don't really mind... I think it is stupid, but I don't mind much...
There is one WalMart here with someone standing at the exit to examine your receipt. I didn't join up or sign anything with them to shop there... so I say no when they ask and keep walking... that and I never shop there unless I have to (i.e. in a hurry someplace and that is the only place I can stop)

People at grocery stores who REFUSE to use the conveyer belt.
There is one woman at Aldi's who refused to use the conveyer belt. She will wait until the belt is empty, then walk to the front of the belt, and hand the cashier one item at a time to ring up. And this is with her whole cart full of groceries.
I wasn't paying attention and started putting my stuff on the belt. This woman said, I'm not done with my order. I told her that is what the conveyer belt is for, to unload one's cart. She then said she does not like another person's item on the conveyer belt while she is checking out. I then told her there had been thousands of items on the conveyer belt earlier in the day, so my items should not matter.
I have been shopping at this same aldi's for about a year. When I see this women in line ahead of me, I just walk around the store until she's gone. I cant even stand to look at her. lol
