The next move (post Disneyland - leaving Thursday AM) is to get some **** ordered. The tank, stand, canopy, retro, bulbs (just straight T5HO?), and fans. Get it all laid out and start the mounting of the retro to the canopy (let the pics begin) with spacers, etc.
Look back at the fixture i posted.. Comes with bulbs


Question: 2 2250s or 2260s / or, 3 2217s - is it a big deal to select / stack media in the 2250 or 2260 (sold separately)?
Media actually cost alot. You can substitute with some of that other lower brand media.. Looked into the 20__ models?

Question: Painting the back of the tank?
Would be nice

Question: Substrate?? Can use what I used in my 45 (worked okay - lol) but am open to suggestions.
Black gravel!! lol go different from that river colored gravel. Or maybe try turface (got money go for eco complete)

Question: Heaters (stealth) - what size and how many??

I'd definitely paint black but have never done it myself... I know there are multiple threads here that do a blow-by-blow description.

Especially considering the depth of the tank I'd go one at each end to ensure uniform temp. I have a Stealth but don't use it due to the reg. temp in my tank. May go back in as winter hits though...

Yes I have to vote for the black substrate as well; IMO looks better than the brown pea gravel.
