150 Gallon Build Thread ... From the Start

wow, over 900 posts and you don't even have the tank yet.
With the work you did on the stand and canopy, along with so many posts, I think the expectations are going to be sky high for the finished aquarium

Any idea how much the materials were to put it all together? I built a stand once for my 150 and I don't think I'll do it again. It was a ton of work and the materials were nearly what I could have paid for a decent stand. Just curious! Great work!!!

I'm excited to see this tank! Have you figured out when you'll be able to pick it up?

The snow just about goes away and comes again - in fact, it's supposed to be another big winter storm (for here) in the next couple of days. I may see if I can get up and get it tomorrow before more snow comes in ...

I'd say I have around $400 or $500 in the lumber, plywood, trim, and stains - it turned into a piece of furniture instead of just a stand and canopy. I would "definitely" build another one ...

Coy didn't you get snow down at sea-level? You must be shoveling every hour. Southern AZ got a light dusting at higher elevations already and its not even (technically) winter yet.... gonna be a long cold winter.

Vader - these people here go "nuts" when it snows. School has been canceled all week ... the first couple of days I could see - but come on!

I was all set to pick up the tank last Sunday (took the seats out of the van and headed out - was 10 miles North of town - called the LFS and no answer - they were closed).

I would love to get up and pick up the tank so I could do a trial fit and see how it looks before staining. It may need a bit more trim on the stand - just not sure until I can see it together. I also need the temp to warm up a bit before I can start finishing the stand and canopy.

Actually, work has me buried right now (and basically until Jan 15).

Really, really excited (and so is the Mrs.) - from here on out it's all cool ...:dance:

Coy, it's been more than 'cool' from the first day you posted this truly epic thread :D This is always the first subscribed thread I check as I know they'll be a solid update waiting.

This time of year it is so hard to get anything done... the progress/quality construction you've showcased to date has been really incredible to see. We can't wait progress in 2009!
