Hello.

I am in the works of clearing out my 200 gallon for a loach theme tank. I was wondering if anyone here had a big loach tank and a few pics if possible.

Right now I have 3 big peices of driftwood(not sure if i am going to use it), a bunch of slate rocks, and some plants i plan on putting in there. My loach list is growing, I already know I have to get my hands on a few chain loachs. well anyway.....

stock list so far is

30-35 clown loachs, 2"-5.5"
6 geto/rostrata loachs 2"
3 polka dot loachs 2.5"
1 blue botia 6.5"
3 yoyo loachs 2"-4"
1 tiger loach 2.5"
1 skunk loach 2.5"

non loachs
1 Golden wonder Killi
1 porthole flagtail catfish
5 boesemani rainbow
3 Madagascar rainbows
1 Syno cat
4 red rainbow fish

Looking for decor ideas.

I will post pics when I eventually get everything put together

Thanks for looking!

Have you visited loachesonline? I would suggest posting this there for expert loach advice. IMO that's very overstocked. I'd consider fewer species but more of each. maybe just clowns and Kubotai or rostrata. Axe the tiger and the skunk for sure.

Why? I know that they are "aggressive" but I have never seen 1 case of them being aggressive, same goes with the blue botia. If something does happen I will take care of the problem. Right now the tiger is in a tank with 20 or so clowns, and the skunk with 10-12 clowns. I have had the skunk for years and the tiger for about 8-9 months

They may continue to be fine, going against conventional behavior, or not. I don't keep them because I don't have a proper tank for them, often referred to as a "grr tank". Recommendations can only be made by the typical behavior of a species. I also don't keep clowns as my largest tank is 75 gal. I would again suggest posting your Q at loachesonline. There are folks there with large tanks and lots of experience.

:iagree: to many clowns heres what u could do instead

10 clowns
20 sids(y.sidthemunki)best loach ever!
8 blue botia
8 boosemani rainbows
something for a centrepeice this tank needs 1 mabye a flagtail fish?(not that cat u listed)

the stock list u had was very inappropriate just because its a bigger tank dont mean u can put what ever u want in there. what equipment do u have(filters, heaters, etc)

I want a clown loach tank not a sid/botia tank. Ive seen tanks with 40+ clown loachs, thats not counting all of the other fish. Bigger clowns too, not small like mine. I have an aqua clear setup, 2 stealth heaters, 250W

I am not looking for stocking advice, just want ideas on decor. Looking for some pics if possible

ok well do between 15 and 20 clowns then but be prepared to have more space as they all ight grow and over crowd the bottom of the tank heres what u could do then'
15-20 clowns
15 boosemani rainbows
5 red rainbows
1 golden wonder killi
and something as a centre peice im not sure though

for decor lots of plants and lots of spacious over hangs something that gives the loaches a dark hiding spot andcan fit them all in. make sure theres lots to they like lots of nooks and crannies to hide in

How many Aquaclears? For a tank that size and that kind of overstocking you should have something like 2 large cannisters + an AC + a powerhead or two for water movement.
