Parents and Me (long rant)

Being uber-nice starting... now. Well, I lied. I started two nights ago. Cleaned and organized my room, and my bathroom. Since reading this post, I took care of ALL the dishes without them asking me haha.

Looking for a job, just got a bit of a connection with my friend who just got hired, hopefully I'll be in the good if it goes through :thm:
Parents are a little stressed, brother just had a wedding (VERY unexpected) So now were in a bit of a hole, but we should be A-okay in a few months. My parents get along better than any couple I've ever seen.

Doing extra chores has been started haha

I think It's coming back for my dad, he was looking at the fish pretty hardcore when we were in the LPS, and giving me advice on a filter (which was actually legit).

But other than that, you have some really good advice
I really think they would enjoy working with me on it, but, nobody lives close enough.

Chores are a pain for you but while youre doing them with gritted teeth, REMEMBER you get more by sucking than you do by biting....
 
Do you have a local fish club? We have a couple kids that come with their parents and everyone learns a lot. If you can take your parents maybe they could talk to people who have been in the hobby for some time. Many of the members of my local club are much older, have lived through many technological changes in fish keeping and one of their fears is the hobby is dying out because young people are not coming to meetings. I'm sure they would be thrilled to have you and your parents join them. You might even be able to get free or cheap plants, equipment, and fish.

Good luck...I totally feel what you are going through. My parents are pretty good but your parents totally sound like my boyfriend's parents. If they don't understand it or enjoy it they are not supportive because why would anyone want to do it? How long before you turn 18 and can get your own card?
 
Solution: Buy one of those prepaid visa gift cards. You can use them online, although with some of them you may have to go to the visa website to register them for online use. And since they are prepaid, you don't need to be 18 to get one.

And I hear you on the parents thing...."Maybe if you didn't spend all your money on your FISH, you could help out with the bills" (<--Don't let that mislead you, I do help her with bills)
 
Go to walmart and get one of those Visa preload money cards and use it online, thats what my gf's family did for her for christmas cause they didnt know what to get her.

This is what I would do when I was younger, if I wanted something, I would wait til my parents fell asleep, snab my moms credit card, order it, and put it back with an envelop laying on her purse saying "mom, ordered such and such, used your wamu card" and put the money in the envelope.

Yeah she was mad for a day, but at least I got what I ordered and once she realized that it was MY money to spend however I chose. She quit bothering me, she just checked to make sure what I was ordering was what I was paying her back with.

Theres 2 options for ya
