This is something of an overgeneralization. There are many species of gourami.

I have a pearl gourami in my 46g. She's pretty shy, but I just got her last week so I'm hoping she'll warm up a bit!

We have a pearl, a blue, a gold, a snakeskin, a chocolate, and a paradise in our planted 150. The snakeskin is the only male, so they all get along just fine. They share the tank with four SAE, some cherry barbs, kuhlis, and a male betta.

Sploke, I was looking to move my 4 cherry barbs into the tank from my 29, they get along fine? I was told by some not to do it.

I got a dwarf gourami last week and I love watching him. Such pretty colors too!

Had a dwarf red gourami once, loved it. So much personality. Used to stir up all its tank mates. Great fish, just gotta be careful what you put them with

I have a male Dwarf Gourami that I've had for about 9 months now that has gotten along well with all types of fish except for my BN Pleco. I don't know why, but they hate each other. Probably territorial issues.

Ive had opalines, sunsets and blues. The blues and sunsets all apparently came from bad stock (which isn't uncommon IMO) and the opalines all were so mean that they became turtle food All in all my luck with them has been terrible.

I've had dwarf powder blue, sunset, honey, and moonlight in the past. Currently I have a gold and a chocolate. The two I have now are actually very docile and I wouldn't classify them as territorial or aggresive at ALL. the opposite actually. Interestingly enough though...years ago when I had a moonlight and a powder blue, I tried adding a golden to the mix and within 30 minues he had them banished to one corner of the tank together. I quickly took him right back to the store.

It all depends on the situation they're in, and the individual fish temperment.
I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have a moonlight again, but they need more specific water perameters and I'm pretty stocked at this point.

Haven't had any problems. Cherry barbs tend to be pretty calm, low-key fish IME.
