I was looking at people's pics of their "donkey ear" pond snails the other day, and have been seriously contemplating begging someone to sell me some since they just look so cute.
My family has a tiny frog pond, 'bout 180g, in our back yard, and I had tossed some hornwort and a few bladder snails in it a few months ago. Then about a week ago I found a cool stick to use as driftwood and stuck it in the pond to waterlog it... So, a few minutes ago I went out to check on my driftwwod after a heavy rain, and saw a bunch of snails waaay bigger than anything that should've been in there. There were at least 7 nickel-sized pond snails with cute little floppy "ears" skimming the surface. :)
Naturally I grabbed a container and brought in 5 of 'em. Gonna QT em for a good long while due to them being outdoor snails. I'm just so excited that I found these guys right in my back yard!

congrats on finding them. I have a few of them. I believe they're more commonly called giant pond snails. Not giant but bigger than bladder snails.

yay! they are cute. I would keep them seperate from fish for a month if possible so no nematodes can hitch a ride into your tank.

I don't have pics of mine yet, but here's one I found doing a google image search (mine look like they have a slightly darker shell, but the same speckled body):

Lymnaea stagnalis (giant pond snail).

Yep, that's what I was planning!

zzyzx85: Yup, couldn't think of the proper name when I first posted. Thanks!

Those sound fascinating.
