My sister is a vegetarian...and I'm a carnivorian

I'm a big fan of little white lies. So my advice to you: If someone asks you why you are vegetarian, and you want to avoid an argument, then just say "For some reason, I just don't like meat. I don't like the way it tastes."
There. End of discussion. As the saying goes, there's no disputing taste. :)
People can hassle you to no end for any other answer you give (health, animal cruelty, etc.) but they can't argue with you over whether you like the way meat tastes. It's like arguing over which is better--vanilla or chocolate.

I don't have issues with anyone choosing to be vegetarian. but only suggest you research your food carefully
particularly regarding essential amino acids.
you do need complete proteins which can be difficult on a vegan diet without adding certain foods.

good luck

Actually combinations of completely vegetarian foods will give the body the building blocks it needs to create every amino acid it needs.

A legume and a whole grain together provides just that.

Honestly if we ate the fruits and veggies recommended the reduction in oxidation would lower our protein needs because there isn't as much damage to repair.

Digestion of protein produces carcinogens, so a more plant based diet reduces the risk of colon cancer.

:evil_lol:ROTHLMAO!! When I was a veg, my best friend played it to me, I laughed my arse off, make good points!:evil_lol:

You get +1 million points for quoting Immortal Technique in a vegetarian thread of all things and having it be relevant. You officially win at teh interwebz.

I was for about 3 years. And weighed 109, and looked like hell. But I was not able to afford to be healthy. Once I got to the point where the bones were sticking out of my back, my best friend Jake kinda forced me into eating meat again. (but I was DIRT POOR) Just cant stay healthy on 99c burgers with only lettuce and tomato....Make sure you do it right. I miss it. My husband now says if I do it again and starting looking like I came out of a concentration camp, he wont touch me. But when I don't eat meat, I cant stay healthy....Good luck, stay smart about it. ( And the ONLY top ramen you can eat now is orental) and MSN, is animal fat, and its in about everything....

I agree, it is hard to be a healthy vegetarian on a good price. Most of the replacement foods are more expensive, and inconvienent to buy from some stores. It should be more readily available IMO.

Did you try doing the vegetarian lifestyle without changing your meals, just taking away the meat factor and therefore eating more? You'd still have to have nuts, beans, etc., but that's worked well for my family. They like the replacement food, but sometimes it's a pain to drive all the way out to the wholefoods store or health food store :) They are all very healthy this way as well. I guess it's all about balance. Anyway, if you decide to go back the the veggie way, good luck and I hope it works out better for you!

Ps. If you go to a health store they usually have a guru on hand that will take you under their wing and point a bunch of the good food and helpful supplements.

I tried the substitute, boca, beans, tofu, but being ghetto broke, just took over. I had most of my food budget going to my daughter, and sick mother. So as always I bit the bullet and sucked it up like a man. And it wasn't pretty. But my husband knows what I look like the non meat style, and he hate me all twiggy. Someday I think I will go back. most likely when he deploys, because meals with be for me and the kids. (The still get meat no matter what) And I don't need to worry about him talking me out of it......:)
