Ace25's 75G Build Thread

I just bought the 1000ml bottle last month, that will last me at least 6 months.

Here are some updated pics I just took. Made a few frags yesterday and still need to make several more.

That is why I don't have small hermits.. actually not.. I just hate hermits.. and no shrimp in that tank either. Thought of both, even though the Falco is known to be the tamest of the hawks.

Trying to get a good top down picture of my red planet.. need a photo box to do it though. Here is the best I could get holding it by hand.. wanted to show the green base and how it split apart into 2 branches then merged back together. People always complain they are always white and never look green, it is just because they are fast growers and it takes a while for the green to catch up with the growth.

Every time I visit, your reef always amazes me like I'm seeing it for the first time. The new growth rates ars incredible.

Was wondering if you've reconsidered trying the amino acids again? Now that you're no longer running 10K's, maybe it'll work out better this time? I read a fairly scientific article on CoralScience.org that measured "amino acid" uptake, surprisingly revealing that they actually do so in daylight.

Quote:
"Scientists also found that amino acid uptake is stimulated by light, by using metal halide lamps at different heights. Above 160 micromole photons / second / cm2 there was no extra amino acid uptake. For aquarists it means they don't need to put 400W bulbs above their (average sized) tanks to ensure amino acid uptake. However, it is interesting that amino acid uptake is a diurnal event."

Here's the article New Insights Into Amino Acids

Beleive me, I am just as amazed as everyone else. It is only because I can watch the growth daily that it isn't overly impressive to me, but I can say if I just went one week without looking at my tank then checked in on the corals I would be shocked at the growth. I seem to have hit a perfect "sweet spot" just recently and my corals are showing their appreciation.

As for Aminos, ya, I still think about it, still have the bottle in my refrigerator that gets knocked over every time the door is opened to fast. I just had a fast/bad reaction with algae last time and I only dosed 2x and both times very small amounts. Took over a month of vodka dosing to undo the 2 small dosings of AAs. So.. still on the fense with those... one of those "ain't broke/don't fix it" type of things at this point.
