55Gal need help picking fish

What fish are you reading about fish that live 1-4 years?

You don't "need" to add co2. If your lighting is high, you can have algae problems if you don't add co2. Your plants won't grow as well.

Pearl Gourami get to about 4" and are REALLY passive.

Are you looking for schooling fish? or do you want one or two "larger" fish to take up the whole tank?

If so, some Cichlid species might fit the bill.

Here are the fish we like, but if some wont work, tell me why;
Panda Cory Cat, Peppered Cory Cat, Swartz's Cory Cat, Sterba's Cory,
Nanus Cory Cat, Synodontis Decorus Catfish, Pictus Cat,
Penguin Tetra,
Mamfensis Panchax Killifish,
Sidthimunki Botia Loach, Dario Botia Loach, Angelicus Botia Loach, Clown Loach,
Australian Rainbow, Axelrodi Rainbow, Praecox Rainbow,
Hairy Tiger Pleco, Starry Night Pleco, Rio-Negro Pleco, Tiger Pleco,
Siamese Algae Eater, Rainbow Shark
.

I would like to keep the Rainbow shark if at all possible. I might have a 30Gal tank also, so if some of these I can't have I might want to have them in the 30Gal instead.

I'm looking for medium fish in general and then a larger fish on the bottom, kinda like that guys the main fish and the others are just friends visiting, you know what I mean...?

How do I control the algae, is there another way other than co2?

never mind the Mamfensis Panchax Killifish,Swartz's Cory Cat, Siamese Algae Eater and the clown loach. the clown pleco instead.sorry.

My bf likes the angels and would like to have some in the 55 or the 30gal tank, so...they are back on the list...sorry. I am making this tank(s) for my bf, hes always wanted fish bout says its too much work, he also works too much out of the house to care for them. I've opted to do it for him since I've had fish before and wanted more at some point myself.

Side view, found out plants are Not True Aquatic plants, so I carefully put them back into their tube and will be returning them tomorrow. Petco really sucks on many levels, it's sad...

My little Shubunkin Goldfish. He/she is very active, the most 'sugar high' fish in the store too.

My BF's Black Moor Goldfish. It's lazy and doesn't seem to be doing well. It spent 7min 'breathing air' then down at the bottom. He didnt pick it, he let the guy at the store get w/e fish...I hope it does better now that it's in a big tank and not overcrowded..

Supplies so far. I know the Betta food isnt for these fish, I was using it to cycle.

Your list is OK, except that they are almost all bottom fish.

Choose 2-3 of the above and get 5-6 of each. The shark will grow to 5-6 inches.
