Because you are most likely seeing burundi frontosa (possibly Tanzanians) and not F1 Zaire Blues![]()
I hate sounding like a newbie but what is the difference?

Zaire's are coomonly reffered to as the best looking. Zooro mask, intense Zaire blues with some beautiful black/white contrast on the bars. Wild Caught Zaires are the most expensive, I haven't checked prices lately but they were probably about $180 each plus shipping before the economy crashed and you might be able to get some for around $150 each.
Zaire's are the hardest to breed. Among the Zaire varients Kapmapa are the hardest to breed (and the most beautiful in my opinion). There are not many people successfully breeding wc kaps (original kaps imported by Thoresten Rueter). So, that is why high quality Zaire fry sell for around $30 to $35 each from reputable breeders/companies.
Most frontosa I see in LFS are burundi and they have had serious quality issues (like mooning and split bars).
Hope that helps :flamed:
