TR Yellow Lab fry: Man, I thought I was cheap
- I sell mine for $2.50 each (1.25")
- 3.50 each (2 to 3").
- I usually sell 40 to 60 at a shot to one LFS.
- Don't have to mess around with internet sales.
- One customer vs 10+ customers
will work on the lfs thing! these days no new species at LFS for some reason...i am waiting for rustys and other mbuna....
all i have in my tank todate are haps, eureka reds, yellow lab, red zebra, mianganos...the tank will be empty when i take out significant no.s of lab and zebra fry...

One suggestion in dealing with LFS: don't breed what YOU want to supply them - breed what THEY want you to supply them. For example: my LFS doesn't want Yellow Tail Acei - that suprised me. He wants fish that are cheap and have bright colors as fry. That's what his customers purchase: cheap & colorful. Also, each LFS will have a different market and different needs. You gotta talk to them.
Remember, it's not about the fish that you want - it's about what they believe they can sell and those can be radically different. Develop a rapport with a LFS or two, relate to them and ask them discovery questions.
Also, it doesn't hurt if you buy from them once in a while This may be how you start your rapport building.

I strongly agree with that advice Razz please support LFS by stopping in to buy some foods or water treatment products like stress coat or Prime it shows that you support them as well..
i bought all of my aquarium supplies at lfs and few at petco/petsmart. i never shopped online...recently got a 125g tank from them...i will check with them and see what cichlids are they interested in. lfs are not carrying good variety of african cichlids currently...donno the reason...that is causing to do think abt shopping online...didn't try yet though...
dang. how come those fronts have such a price tag? are they different from the ones i see? cuz i see them at daves fish for i think about $15 each. is it a different species?
Because you are most likely seeing burundi frontosa (possibly Tanzanians) and not F1 Zaire Blues
