Are these chemicals safe?

I bought a used aquarium and with it came a variety of miscellaneous products and equipment. Included were 2 chemicals I'm unfamiliar with:

1) Rid*Ich by Kordon - I'm thinking that even if this isn't the best chemical for treating disease, it's probably fine for the fish. If not, though, I'd love to know. Also, does it have a shelf life? I've no idea how long this tank sat unused.

2) Algae Destroyer Advanced - It says it can control algae while not harming fish or plants but somehow that feels illogical to me. I want plants so this one makes me leery but I'm not in the habit of tossing things out that may be useful without knowing more about them first.

Rid Ich I wouldnt know about. The Algea Destroyer I have a bottle of and it worked good and I had Lilys in mmy tank and it had no ill effect on my lilys but did keep the algea away. I know this product doesnt work for everyone and soe will advise against using it. Ultimately its your call but it did work good for me. I no longer use it but might start again.

Ive generally heard that using phosphate removing filter media is better than adding chemicals to the water. I'm having a brown algae problem and am trying to cycle the time that the lights are on to see if some of the algae goes away. So far it seems to be working pretty well...

Hopefully others will chime in and help more

I wouldn't keep either of them. The best treatment for ick is salt and heat and i would never use any form of algae destroyer, it's much better to fix the cause of the problem rather than the symptoms also you won't be able to keep any inverts in your tank if you do use the algae destroyer.
