I personally think there's a lot of bias toward the slaughterhouse vids; most of them are trying to prove a point, which inadvertently makes them show only the worst parts of whatever they are filming. I think some people need a reality check and realize that its a slaughterhouse: a farm for meat.
Slaughterhouses nowadays stun the cow before slaughtering it to make it more humane, and to make the process much easier. Of course, some cows don't get stunned the first time around, and if the farm needs to stun repeatedly, then I bet that's the only part that's going to make it on the film.
You have the power as a consumer to buy what you accept. If you want to spend twice as much money on "free range" or "organic" meat (which is not a regulated term by the FDA), then by all means you should.
