well this week has been kind to me in my criegslist searches, managed to grab a 29 gallon tank and stand for $30. never really liked the light colors of wood stands thay have a rather dated look to it so im planing on stripping it down and staining it a nice deep color.

Awesome! I feel the same way - the pine stand that came with my 75 was just too light. Stripped it down and stained it mahogany. Much prettier! :) And looks nice against the beige wall in my living room too. :)

Can't wait to see the progress!

Cant beat that deal. That is an unusual tall nice looking stand. Sometimes sellers don't mention the canopy becasue it is usually in the back yard in poor shape needed repairs, but canopies are easy to fix. I would ask him and if so repair and stain both for a matching look.

is it just me, or does that tank look crooked or something? Its late and i had hockey practice, so i could just be seeing things.

don't really care about a canopy for something this small because i will probably have a pendent light on this using this design. never have really liked canopies any way.

well finally got the thing stripped and really doesn't look all that different other than be not shiny. i think i'll probably go with a gell stain for this so will do that tomorrow once i pick up the stain, will have pictures then
