My 3.35 gallon tank isn't cycled yet, so I have some time to think about it. What type of betta should I get? I was thinking about saving one of those Wal*Mart bettas...or saving one of the little guys from one of the local pet stores...or maybe buying one online. Not really sure. I was thinking about getting a Halfmoon, Rosetail, or a Doubletail. But no matter how I look at it, I think they are just too big for my 3.35 gallon tank. Maybe a smaller species would work...or at least something with smaller fins.

can never go wrong with Dragon plakats, which are a personal fav. of mine. :)

I really like these guys...but they seem huge! Maybe that's just because of containers size, though. Thanks for posting the video. They both are gorgeous.

Somebody told me that some of the shabby looking cup bettas can really become beautiful if taken care of. Is this true? Most of the bettas at my local stores are a weird combination of blue, black, brown, red, and purple all mixed together. Will their colors come out more if they are given top quality care?

Also, here's a picture of my setup. Maybe this will help determine the kind of betta...

Yup, many bettas that look bad in a cup can look stunning when taken care of.

I'm so torn. I would love to nurse one of the Wally World bettas back to it's colorful brilliance, but I also like so of the more rare colorings. My favroite pattern/colors is the Mustard Gas. I really like the look of a Mustard Gas Crowntail...but my budget would die if I tried to order one. Grr.

Well, I just put my old tanks on craigslist, so if some people take the bite...I'll have...$140. Half will go to my summer trip to Greece, and the other half will go to getting another small tank setup and two male bettas. I think $70 should be enough for the setup and the bettas.
