+1 for Tetramin. I've been feeding the hoards of guppies Tetramin Pro Tropical Crisps for several years now. Nice circular shaped pieces. Doesn't cloud.

If you don't mind me asking, what name of flake should I ask for ordering Ken Food that is really good for general African cichlids food as Im running low and never tried Ken Food?

Omega One flake is what I get when I'm not using New Life Spectrum...the ingredient list is impressive, they use whole fish and kelp.
But I got a $2 off coupon on coupons.com for Wardley's Advanced Nutrition Tropical flake (which made the flake cost less than a dollar
) and I have to say, the fish do love it and it has an interesting blend of veggies and vitamins. Stuff like dried spinach and dehydrated alfalfa meal. Still, I would never have bought it full price - there's a lot of filler in it too.
Ken's I'm sure is great - never tried it though - but it depends on what kind of fish you have. Do you need a meaty flake? A veggie flake? What kind of fish do you keep?

If you are talking about mbuna,which need more veggies than meat, I would say his premium veggie flake. If your are talking about other africans, I would say his premium cichlid flake.

OK thanks I have Mbuna and was told to stop feeding them so much ribeye, shrimp, scalops, and tuna. So I need that vegie flake to offset their meaty diet and persuade them to eat it as they don't go for natural leaf & oatmeal veggies too well. Thanks.

You shouldn't feed any of your fish fatty cuts of meat, and even the use of lean animal protein is debated. Liver is about all that is generally accepted, beef liver (usually) or chicken liver. But mbuna really don't need to eat those sorts of things at all, and certain fish such as Tropheus get terrible bloat if you feed that.
Scallops, I imagine they are fine - and tuna, as long as you're not talking about "canned tuna" should be ok, but canned is probably gonna make a mess of the water. Ditto for herring, mackerel or any oily fish.
My mbuna always loved when I would slice a zucchini lengthwise, put it in the microwave for about 30 seconds, then clamp the bottom (stem) with a plastic clamp from the hardware store, which would allow it to drop to the tank sticking straight up. They rasped at that thing until it was all gone
www.kensfish.com has the best fish food as far as I'm concerned. My fish love it. The website gives ingredient detail and will guide you as to which food is recommended for different fish.

Yeah, all of those including canned water tuna ground up with fresh cooked oatmeal as a binder into pasty balls, as juveniles they loved it and have grown big especially the Bumblebees the size of electric razors. But I was told to stop it for long life so I have been feeding them flake and they go through it like fast. Im hoping Kens veggie flake can replace the pasty balls.
