Ac's are the only hob's I buy, even with the impeller spinup problem after cleaning I still think they are the best hob's available.
My big tanks are canister only because I inject co2.

I finally pulled my last 2 Emperor 400's off my 72 gal shop tank this week. All canisters on all my tanks now. I think I'm going to get one of those SUNSUN 530's soon for the shop tank.

I much prefer Marineland, I have a Mag 350 canister that's a work horse on my 80g. I just replaced my Penguin mag 350 bio, on my 80g, it just stood up to high and I couldn't slide my light back far enough to open the tank lid. I replaced it with a Marineland H.O.T. 250. The Penguin has a higher flow rate but I think the 250 will do the job, and now I can open the lid. The Penguin will go well on my 50g that has a UGF, a Whisper 60 and an Emperor 280 bio (talk about over filtration.) Noise has never been an issue. I'll keep all the filters running so I'll have a cycled filter put on the 160g I plan to get soon.

Always used AC's... tried a few others, can't name them off the top of my head, and I was spoiled enough to use AC's from the start so I was dissatisfied with others

so ac fans, a ?

I run 2 ac110's on my 72g, doing good but my DIY pvc intake tube extender much improved my tank's filtering,

ac70 on my 20g which is overkill but all are used to the strong waterflow & is crystal clean, fast filtering after feeding frozen food too.

I now have a 10g hospital QT tank, do I need an ac50 or smaller or can I live with a box filter & sponge filter?

also, I guess running just ac110's for s/w may not do, looking some day to set up s/w.

thks all
