What do you think the most underrated "common" fish is?

guppies, convicts, cherry barbs, common/comet goldfish, minnows and veiltail bettas.

I dont know how common they are any more but I love my banjo catfish its always a treat to see them because they hide so well. But I agree about most everything else in this thread but I think Bettas beat out our friendly comet feeders I see a lot more comet feeders sold as pets than Bettas!

I have to go for the comets...I've had some with the most amazing fins and coloration. They would have been feeders if i hadn't gotten them.

Paradisefish - good colour, with the curiousity of a betta and the pugnaciousness of a small CA cichlid! The second fish to be exported for the hobby, after goldfish too.

A lot of barbs and rasbora's are often under-rated/overlooked, along with livebearers (guppies, platies, swordtails and mollies) too, IMO.

I know! Its like, people will spend $100's of $100's of dollars on one koi! When you can go the a pet store- buy a dozen comets for a pond for only like 5 bucks (if that)

These kind of goldfish are so underrated, it's not even funny!:wall: They all go for the fancy varieties- some are nice but i cannot stand the look of a softball sized pearl-scale that can barely move. It is just not me. :shakehead:
