ID this: "blue" shrimp

They were sold as "blue shrimp." This LFS has blue shrimp, green shrimp, and cherry shrimp, so I was thinking that it's a variant of neocardinia heteropoda (NH) when I was buying these. I'm not so sure now, they seem to be too blue to be NH. They have no stripes, and one of them have that band from the head to tail. I'm hoping that they are of high order breeding shrimp because the colors are so cool! What are these?

I think its a "blueberry" or "blackberry" shrimp. The offspring don't usually retain that solid color but are more speckled/striped/inconsistent with color. I cannot remember what the species name is, will have to look it up but I am pretty sure its a caridina

Well, I think I might like that variation if they breed!
 
I know they come in from china who have them labeled as neos but that doesn't mean a thing as they havve all their shrimp labeled as neos and most are definitely not.

i also think they are tiger shrimp.. be careful cuz tiger shrimp can interbreed with bee shrimp (CRS) and i've read on some shrimp forum (not sure if this is true) that bee/tiger hybrids are mostly infertile... can anyone confirm this?
 
I really dont' think they are tiger shrimp honestly. there are no visible strpes. I had ones identical to these about two years simply sold as "blackberry" shrimp. They still are on china's import lists frequently
 
Yeah, I'm not sure I'd they're tiger shrimp, either. There are no stripes. I'll keep this thread updated to see what happens when they molt or breed. I have one male and two females.
 
That would be a low-quality blue-tiger shrimp. They usually are a paler blue, and they have orange eyes. You can tell it's neocardina though, which is the blue-tiger shrimp's genus.

it could be a black tiger, but its really hard to say. I am fairly certain its a caridina.


Regardless, I am certain its a high order shrimp meaning it will breed in freshwater and complete the cycle. If I am right in what I think it is, teh young will be born mostly translucent with some speckling and nowhere near the opacity the wildcaught adult has.
