What to do?????? How much????

so let me get this straight, guy buys $100+ on fish and wont drive 30min to pick them up and they die????

he must not have really wanted them. thats his fault.

Thanks everyone. By what he told me, the only reason why he couldn't go pick them up is because he has 2 jobs, and does not get home until 8:00 p.m. every night.

I do have some more rams growing out. ( juveniles, but they are not as nice as the adult rams I shipped him).

June 7th-fish were shipped
June 8th-in transit
June 9th-arrived at 90008 post office
June 9th- received phone call from LA post office regarding incorrect shipping address.
June 9th-responsed to phone call, and gave them new shipping information
June 10th-faxed in shipping information
June 11th- dead fish are on their way back to me

During the 9th-11th, the buyer and I did contact each other, but he nor a friend were able to pick the fish up from the post office.

End result-29 dead adult german blue rams...

Buyer refused to drive a whole 30 minutes to pick up $100+ in fish?

They deserve "0" refund. 30 minutes for something they had shipped across the country? They made the mistake, they refused to make up for it with a minor inconvenience. They had every opportunity to salvage the perishable commodity they paid $$ for and declined.

Not your mistake.

I'd probably split the cost of the new fish and ship at his expense if I wanted to cut him a break at all.

while i understand the not being able to pick them up because of two jobs, i still say it was his fault and he should not be refunded the shipping cost. if you want to cut him a deal on other fish that is youre call but dont refund the shipping cost.

I have to agree with the others here, not your fault in any way. I had that happen to me once (not with fish but with plants) I in NO WAY expected anything from the person I bought the plants from, it was my fault and I was the only one to blame.

GOT A SURPRISE TODAY!!!

The lady that I spoke with at the 90008 post office said that the rams were all dead.

Well, I opened the package, and ALL the fish are still alive. : )

Awesome!

If I were you, I'd let the buyer know and offer to refund the purchase price only or reship at his cost. If he complains, remind him that the problem is not that he has two jobs, it's that he provided the wrong shipping address, and that you did more than your fair share to try to get the fish to him (or him to the fish).

If he wants you to send the fish again, you should probably insist on a second contact person he will authorize to pick up and care for the fish in his stead (if the post office allows), or tell him flat-out that you are not going to follow up on package delivery. Either way, it's going to be a worry for you, so I almost hope he doesn't want the fish, even though I know you need to sell them.

Wish I needed rams. I buy some of those tough little guys in a heartbeat!
