Fish Sanctuary

this is so cool. lol when are you going to stop. its absolutely stunning
lol, thanks, not sure when I'll stop. :)
Your last picture has Glo-fish in it, and they appear to be extremely overfed.
Ps. This thread has inspired me to start looking to adopt fish rather than buy them....
They were. :D All of the fish from that rescue seemed to be, lol. They loved the fish, but I guess it was just a little too much.
And glad that I've inspired you. :)

Got an amazing filter donation from fish-n-chips yesterday, along with some slate, plants, etc. Tearing apart one of the 55-Gallons and spiffing it up for the next rescue(s). Pics later. ;)

New Rescue

Got a new update, and with a new update, comes a new rescue.

Today the Fish Sanctuary didn't actually rescue any fish, how ever I did end up rescuing another creature of some sort.

A Tortoise! Looks to be a Russian Tortoise as well. And the story behind him...
His original owner didn't want him anymore, so he thought, "Lets drop him off at the pond!". A different family that was there saw this man at the pond getting ready to release his Tortoise when they quickly approached him, and asked if they could just take him. (Seems how releasing him in in the wild, in Wisconsin, by a pond, would most likely end with death) They took him back to their place, but could not care for him. They pretty much just wanted to make sure he wasn't released.
So my mother, who paints bedrooms, kitchens, etc. for a 2nd job, came across this family, told them about the rescue, and they asked her if I could take the Tortoise. And that is how I ended up with this guy.

It's a male, they named him Clyde, lol, so Clyde it is! And I don't say this about a lot of things... other than my 28 pound Orange Tabby

... he's cute. His "beak" is a little over grown, so I added some slate that he can eat off of to help trim it a little bit. I have to stop at the LFS for substrate, etc. tomorrow. Right now he is just in a 35-Gallon with a piece a fleece.
And finally, pics of Clyde.

And thanks. The Tortoise is doing great. Eating, drinking, etc.

Update #...14? lol
New rescue. :D
Today we had a 15" Long Nose Gar dropped off. Great condition, not a mark on him. Seemed to be well cared for. He lived his whole life in a 55-Gallon tank, and the original owner knew that he needed a bigger tank. (Although, I don't think that was the real reason. ;) Most likely because he just got bored with it, which was pretty much what he was telling me. He wanted to setup a Cichlid tank.)
He was fed feeders, pellets, and sometimes bits of earthworms. I've got him in his temporary tank until we finish the indoor pond, which now that I have the correct measurements, will be over 400-Gallons! Plenty of room for this guy to swim and grow. And now that we have him in our care, operation Pond Build needs to be started sooner. We were planning on starting in August, but we may start sooner, sometime this month.
Either way, he's a beautiful fish, just amazing looking. I really don't have much experience with these guys, so this is new to me... but so was the Tilapia, JD, Tortoise, Glow Fish, etc. :D
I'll get more pics later. Pics are of him in the cooler. (Used to bring him here)

That is awesome

good luck with them!
Thanks guys. :)

Gar is still doing fine. Still needs to eat though. Put two feeder Goldfish in the tank, and I've noticed frayed fins, and bite marks on the sides, but they're both still there...
