Yikes. Sorry to hear you're having such bad luck. I too have had several power outages in the last couple weeks due to very bad storms. I was without power and water at one point for almost a day, but I faired much better than you for some reason.
I understand your grief with all the algae. It seems that for some reason when ever you try to combat one type of algae, another type pops up in it's place. It's a delicate dance trying to figure out the right chemistry for your tank. I'm finally having success with my tank using DIY CO2 and dosing with Excel simultaneously. I've also had my light for quite some time now so I wonder if perhaps it isn't quite as bright as it used to be, so things are a bit easier to manage? I've read through most of this thread, but I can't remember how much light you're using or if you've tried to decrease the light a bit by using screens or raising it up off the tank?
And you thought you were done with your tank and all there was to do now was sit back and watch things grow... Gotcha! Some how there is always something more to do. Maybe that's what makes it such an addicting hobby. I hope you can get things figured out for your tank. This thread has truly been rewarding to follow. Hope you keep it up!
Wow, this is a lengthy build thread that I have somehow missed until just today! I must say, it is..."infotaining!"
Improving, I see your photography skills are...Your tank has been coming along nicely (until the power outage I guess
), such nice and healthy growth!
Don't have advice for your most recent algae utreak, but I have a tip for feeding the krill to your small fish. While the krill is frozen, break off a chunk and file it down into shavings using a serrated edged knife, then thaw and feed![]()
Just went through this whole thread...
It's amazing![]()
