That's a great idea. I'd say the moderators here are certainly experienced and could be trusted to give an honest review.
Welcome DocTim, and i for one am glad you do the work you do,. when i was a noobie,.. i almost killed my fish listening to other and using their products that didn't work,..
i used your stuff, both fresh and salt versions and they did what they claimed,.. and caught flack about it but i used it and tested and it did what you claimed,.. and me and my fish tank you,.. that was a few years ago,.. 2006 i believe,..
and i trust your products,..
thanks, lenny... you don't have to explain forums... i moderate one and have been offered to have full administrative and partial creative control over a couple. i just don't speak jargon well on several things i do well. i'm like a sleeper car in that manner.
doc tim... your explanations on both of my questions are admirable. i admittedly have no idea about your products but feel much better about them in the event i may have a need for them. your honesty about your target audience is a good thing, imo. it is highly more likely that newbs would need such a product, obviously. honestly... i'm very highly unlikely to need them imho but it's good that you pointed out how your one and only could be used to re-establish a tank after medication. i honestly hadn't considered that as a possible use. makes a lot of sense though.
i will keep it in close consideration in the event i ever feel a need for something similar. i guess thanks to lenny are in order for bringing this whole thing to light.
i hope you'll understand when i say since i have no experience with your one and only that i still stand that other methods will be my go to and therefore what i suggest when asked. i'm honestly still skeptical... but not in total dis-belief and suspect others may feel the same. i am curious, though.
this may be a stupid question, but have you considered sample packs for some of the more prominent members to test out. i feel having the support of a forum such as this that gets pretty heavy traffic would certainly do you some good to spread the word. i know lenny is a smart guy but take this thread and the last for example. even if he's completely right and you are obviously completely accredited in your field... it still leaves a grey area on a subject clouded by grey area with plenty of products that either get mixed reviews or simply fail to live up to their claims completely. makes things kinda tough for those that just don't understand, may have "failproof" methods, are the skeptic type, etc., ... especially in the pet trade... too many useless/harmful products for blind trust to be realistic.
if you could convince rbishop, the v, and zigman for example (who are highly regarded in this community) then your product would more than speak for itself on this forum at least. in my humble opinion...
Cool to see product reps (whether they own the company or just represent) on the forum.
Back in the day, I seeded many tanks with BioSpira and was surprised to see it gone.
SO anyway, Here's my belated welcome to AC.
A lawyer could rip the"instantly" apart.. though I would vouch for DrTim's product before any other. Though I see no need to purchase stuff when it can be done for 50 cents of ammonia.
Too much instant satisfaction desired and no patience in this hobby as of late.
No one ever made a thread about my first post![]()
How many fish product related patents do you hold around the world? ;-)
But... if you start off with a new forum name... maybe thebrandon-v2, let me know and I'll start an announcement for you too! LOL
So if the inventor of the eco aqualizer starts posting here, are you gonna make a welcome thread for them too?
Doc, sorry if some of us come off a bit harsh here, but the internet is a jaded place, and fawning adulation is generally gonna elicit more suspicion than anything else from the crowd. The harder Lenny wants to ride your pony, the weirder it seems to us onlookers, especially those of us who have never had the occasion or felt the need to try your product. When I receive my free bottle that, you've most likely already sent out due to my blinding awesomeness, if it works as well as it claims to, I'd be more than happy to come and jump on it though. Your saddle that is...

I dunno...free samples are more for an up and coming, grass roots sort of product. I'm sure Ken has gotten a lot more business thanks to the samples of different foods that he includes with every order. But those are included in orders he's already filling, very different from what we are talking about here.
This product has been on shelves for years. BioSpira has been around practically as long as I've been keeping fish. I've seen countless advertisements for it in fish magazines like Tropical Fish Hobbyist and Aquarium Fish International. I don't know if Petsmart and Petco carry his product (like Dun, I've never needed it, so never bothered to look) but if it they do, wouldn't he be all set? What difference would three positive reviews make on AC?
Think about that Hikari thread Rachel started up. How many people are gonna actually buy a new Hikari product thanks to being given a free sample? I bet mostly, everyone just wants the free stuff (I'll admit that I do). I'm sure samples are profitable when you give them to stores, and then they decide to carry your product on their shelves. But individual customers...not so much. Very hit or miss.
How many people do you personally know who have Dr. Tim's kind of credentials in regard to fishkeeping? This guy is an expert, no doubt about it. He may not have the cred of Tom Barr since he is selling something...but I say, just hush up and listen. You might learn something. The way I have from reading posts by plantbrain.
And while nitrifying bacteria do not interest me in the way planted tanks do, I would still be happy to learn a little more about the subject...for one thing, like Dun, I too moderate a forum and answer fish questions on a Q&A service, and these are subjects I could benefit from expanding my knowledge on.
I may never need or want to buy his product, but I can understand why someone would be impressed by him and react the way Lenny has. Maybe you find it suspicious, but I don't. How many of us have been to an aquarium related convention before? I'm sure more people haven't than have. That's the only other time I can think of where you might meet someone like Bob Fenner or Dr. Ron Shimek (two people who both have strong internet presences).
I mean, if Justin Bieber posted on this forum talking about his sweet new fish tank, would that just be ho hum nothing special? It would be kind of cool and worth nothing. I clearly see that...even if I may think his music sucks!
