Hi all,
I think I have finished planting my tank, but it still doesn't look..uhhh..right. What do you think. I went with what I read were low to moderate light plants. I wasn't happy with the Tiger Lotus that I got, not at all. Question: Can I cut it down, like I would a regular plant and let it regrow? It's very leggy, in pic's that I've seen they're bushy looking. I wanted it to be a centerpiece in the tank but it looks kind of crappy. Thanks for any input, please be honest with me, I can take it, I'll learn from it:)

I think that you should get some rocks/driftwood to cover up that airstone.
Apart from that, the tank looks pretty cool :D

I'd add a bunch of watersprite/wisteria/indian fern into the back left corner of the tank, and add a big piece of driftwood.
On the opposite side of the driftwood, i'd stack a bunch of rocks to form a sort of layered look.

Remember, Taller plants at the back, smaller plants in the front. :D
A line of sag along the front would also look good.
Adding some glosso or something like that would look good to add a carpet effect somewhere in the tank.

Hope this helped!

Thanks alot FallenAngel, it does:) I'm definately not finished with aquascaping. I've been looking for some nice rock and I originally wanted a large piece of driftwood in the middle. The one I had, which was grapevine turned out not to be good for aquariums so I went with a few smaller pieces of mopani. Also I will be building up the slate caves infront of the airstone, I'm just looking for the right size rocks for the walls of the "caves", what I have there now are too small. Still cycling so I've got some time to play around. Thanks again for your input, I'll be makin some use of those plant selections:)

Yeah I would lose the airstone all together. Your plants will grow better. Other than some hardscape....rocks etc. Iwould wait and let the plants grow in a little. I think it looks nice.

Thanks Chrisinator and Stephcps, had no idea about the airstones. I read somewhere it's good to have the water moving when cycling the tank, sooooo....
Will be pulling the plug on the pump, ty!

Yeah, most plants don't like the airstone, sorry to mention that : /
But it is a good source of oxygen if you needed to turn the tank up for treating ICH or something.. So keep it :D

How much bubbles does your filter make?

You will need SOME oxygen in the tank...

Thanks guys, I'm still not finished. Now I have another problem with the PH being toooo low 6.0 and my plants are looking like fish poo! I'm trying to get the PH up so I don't loose too much before I even get fish in.

Pee in the water. NO NO JUST KIDDING. Try some crushed coral?
