Well, now they are going to try one last time to send a male, in poly bags this time. I am really really hoping it makes it as it's horrific to open up boxes of dead fish. The sad thing is this could have been avoided if they had properly packaged the fish in the first place.

I am not going to post the name of the seller in a public thread. PM me if you want to know.

Wow, that is ridiculous. They need some lessons on how to pack fish, methinks. You are kind to give them another chance.

I agree with Rich OMG i would be so pissed and double bagging breather bags cuts out on the bags ability to breath it says it right there on the bag, i would file the dispute and tell the seller what to do with themselves and chalk this one up as a lesson learned.. Sorry to hear that man..

Atrocious. How do you insist on making the same dumb mistake again, after you've already seen what happened the first time? If I were you, I would have demanded a refund and cut ties. No sense in imperiling any more fish to the seller's subpar shipping practices.

Inka I understand labs reasoning. I don't believe the seller of the pair is a bad memeber or anything of that nature at all. I think he's a great member and this was just a mistake or something gone wrong. It is disappointing to see this as I was going to order from the seller as well. I would have refused to pay for shipping or the next male. I think the seller should have sent them to you free of charge. Again this is very disappointing.

Just so it's clear, the seller did pay the shipping on the juveniles. I understand their issue, shipping a third time they will be out money if I am not paying for it. My issue is the poor packing job and that this situation should have never come up in the first place. The male should have never been in such a small bag (neither should the female), nor should they have been shipped in breather bags. I requested the juvies not be shipped in a breather bag, yet the seller insisted they be (I do think the seller thought it was the best for the fish). Plus, all 4 were in one bag. I know crap happens with shipping, and imo, a crushed box would be a very different story than poorly packed ones that resulted in losses (I have had a shipment where the USPS crushed a box and popped a bag, resulting in a dead fish. I did not hold that against that seller as they had done everything possible to pack the fish well, and the rest of the fish in the box were fine.)

I'm sure this seller is a nice person. The living female is a very nice fish. I will not buy any fish from them that need to be shipped, but if I would buy ones that I could pick up in person. The two juvies (the ones floating on their sides yesterday) were still alive this morning, so I think they will make it. If they do, and the male arrives alive, I will offer to pay the seller for the two juvies (I am not looking for free fish, just living ones).

I don't know the seller personally, and have never spoken to them, so it's not for me to speculate on what kind of person they are, but the fact of the matter is, they were specifically asked to do something, for abundantly clear reasons, and they refused. This directly led to the deaths of numerous fish, and yet they still gave Lab attitude over something that was unarguably their own fault. Deal with them if you would like, but that's not the sort of behavior that will ever get my money, and I'd happily caution others against dealing with them as well. Sometimes people do absurdly stupid things, that's a given, but to attempt to squeeze even more money out of someone for a mistake that they knowingly made twice doesn't sound like they are willing to take much ownership over the matter. Imo, if Lab hadn't made this thread and put it out there, they probably would have happily stiffed her. Gosh knows they've already tried. Like I said before, 2 boxes of dead fish is kind of my limit.

If they had done things properly the first time, nobody would have been out money. I don't ship fish very often, and even I know that 4 good sized juvenile cutteri is a dicey proposition in 1 frickin breather bag. A solitary male in a bag not much bigger than he, is even worse. Then there's the issue of the double bagging the breathers and everything else. Blame rests squarely on 1 set of shoulders in this circumstance, and it boggles my mind that there was any resistance at all on their part towards making this entirely right.

All my life, I've made it a point to be extra nice and gracious, with an abundance of understanding...and I have to say, overall it has done me no good at all, just the opposite is true. Just a couple years ago, I would have been a lot like Lab, offering to pay for the juvies, giving them yet a third chance...now I have a different attitude, much more akin to Inka's. Life is just too short to put myself through disappointment and frustration over and over, all for the sake of being the "good guy" and feeling like I did the right thing.

To be fair, part of this is probably because of their desire to save the buyer money. These fish probably needed a much bigger box, bigger bags, more water = more weight, more girth, more money to ship.

The shipping alone should probably have been $20 or perhaps more, and with each fish between...oh, I don't know...$5-7, they would have had a hard time selling what are probably somewhat common fish in metro areas.
