As Rachel said, I would ask for half the money back, since the female did survive. But if the seller refuses to do that, I'd file the Paypal claim, and honestly, I'd want to let everyone here know who the seller is so we can avoid making purchases from that person. I know I would not want to buy fish from this person, not knowing about this situation, AND the fact this person did not do what was right to make things right for you.

Excellant point!! Buyer BEWARE!!

Looks like the seller is still trying to make this right. I hope the latest attempt works out. Unfortunate to have gone through all of this, but hopefully a lesson learned for both parties.

Good luck... we're all hoping this has a good ending!

I hope things turn out with this last shipment, Lab. I believe i know who the seller is and I had once thought about ordering some fish from them. Would have been my first live fish shipment and I am so glad I didn't now. Would have been a horrible first experience.

I have to honestly say, despite not packaging correctly, this sounds like a good seller to me. they offered new fish, they ate the cost of shipping on the second shipment. Unfortunately, the packaging was poor again but now they are offering to ship another fish (despite half the second shipment surviving) for just the cost of shipping. Sounds to me like they are really making the effort ot make things better.

That being said, if I would have been the buyer, I would have asked for a credit for the future or a refund for the single DOA fish.

An important thing to note if you are going to leave feedback for this seller, they are trying to make things right. Its important that feedback CLEARLY reflect the transaction. If I was the buyer, this would be a neutral because fish died but the seller really is trying to make things right.

Oh man! That is lousy and I am very sorry. We had a situation years ago where we got a "FED EX NEXT DAY" (not) box containing three expensive dead, frozen fish. I did file a dispute because there was a guarantee of live arrival, the fish were dead (and seller wanted pictures w/ the heads cut off -- a very pleasant job for my husband), then the seller offered me no shipping refund (I think shipping was $50 or so) and to sell me more fish at just $15/each. Yeah, NO THANKS! I'm truly sorry about the fish and hope you will get some reasonable reimbursement from the seller -- not to mention be able to pursue your goals for this time of fish. Good luck!

ID ASK FULL MY MONEY BACK AND ID NOT USE THAT SELLER AGAIAN. LOOK AT THE SIZE OF YOUR BAG AND AT THE SIZE OF THE FISH. IF THE FISH EVEN MOVES A GILL THE BAGS GONNA GET PUNCTURED. WHAT NUTCASE WOULD EVEN SEND A FISH PKGED LIKE THAT. THAT IS JUST NOT THINKING RIGHT THERE. THEY NEED TO HONOR THEIR LIVE ARRIVAL GUARANTEE OR PAY UP. SIMPLE AS THAT. FILE A COMPLAINT SINCE THEY ARENT HONORING THAT.

I agree, that is why I am trying to keep a level head about the whole situation and figure out the best compromise in this situation. Maybe I will just see if they'll do the refund for the DOA male (I will not be using a future credit though). Part of the problem is the shipping was wrapped into the price, as in for what I paid, it was a breeding pair shipped with live arrival guarantee. So how do you sort that out? And to me, a proven breeding pair is worth more than just a male and female as individuals. So idk...

Look I read this whole entire thing and alot of ya make total sense. I know myself and I would of plastered the users name all over on here. I've seen others do it here and on MFK. I can be a royal pain when done wrong. I will respect Labs decision though to keep the user name out of this thread since its not that hard to figure out with a quick search in this section of the forum.

I must say though I do side with Rachel. I would just ask for half the money back and let it be. I would not ask for another fish to be sent to me. Thanks but no thanks. I understand he is trying to make things up but nah just give me back half of my money and Ide be good. Reason being is a breeding pair is more valuable then just a male or female who aren't even bonded. So get 12.50 back and save yourself a headache save a fishes life and save the seller the shipping cost for yet another possible DOA.

Ok, I have sent the seller a message that if they want to send me a $10 refund and not try to ship again (risking more disaster), that I'd be cool with that and we can call this whole deal done. Hopefully they will accept that. I figure since the 2 little ones were still alive this morning, asking for half would be greedy on my part. I am going to call around to all the LFS within a couple hours of here to try to find a male for the female.
