Frackin' cold outside.
Took some more pix. These were the clear ones since I rushed outside without a jacket and was shivering.
There's a clear belly/tail section with visible guts. The head section had a small pooch.
It definitely is beginning to rot at this point.
The slug explanation is very plausible. I'm sticking to that for now. Thanks.
I can take it inside for a better examination and pix but I don't want that nasty thing inside the house. *blech*

I wouldn't worry about it in the house. You probably already breathed in the spores earlier. On the good side, it isn't nearly as painful as people would imagine when the babies eat their way out. I mean unless you have a rather poor imagination, in which case it would probably be exactly as painful as imagined...
If you survive the next few days then that slug theory is much more likely.
