Fish under an inch

Yea they have them in Alabama too I hear but they are far more common in Florida. Oh and just for the record I do have 3 baby plecos scattered through out my tanks. When they get big they go in the 20 long. I love em.

Sparkling gourami is a cool fish as well. I haven't seen any around. Also the shell dwellers! Excellent call! I forgot all about those little guys. I really should check more into that. Sounds like a great time. This is a great list. I think I should do a little blog post about it.

If I get something new this week I'll try to upload some pics.

You're looking for Swamp Killies, Leptolucania ommata.
Yep. I think my lil bro might like killies if I play up on the adventure of collecting wild fish.I still use my trustee Peterson Field Guides-Freshwater Fishes-Plate29,M251,p.225 They must have a website. I suck at being a nerd, tech is hard for me. Theres some neat plains topminnows that you dont see much of that would be fun to collect-n-breed too. I dont have ca$h to buy off any breeders.

If you go shelldweller you might have an issue finding suitable tankmates.

I'm just now starting to research natives here in the FL panhandle, planning a little expedition soon :) (i guess you could call it that, there's rivers, streams, creeks, estuaries and everything in between within a few miles of here)

I'm cycling out a few tanks. The pea puffers would need a species only tank as well. I don't mind giving the cichlids their own tank.

Boraras brigittae (AKA Chilli rasboras), boraras merah (AKA phoenix rasboras), or Hyphessobrycon amandae (AKA ember tetra). All max out @ or under 1" & aren't particularly demanding as long as you keep up with regular maintenance. I've been toying with the idea of starting a nano setup myself & these 3 have been on the top of my list based on reputation, aesthetics, & availability.

Just keep in mind that with a smaller tank (as opposed to a larger one) you'd need to bump up your regular maintenance a bit, maybe twice weekly WCs of 30% each & you shouldn't have any problems.
