I am planning my own nano tank at the moment. Some nano fish <1" include Boraras sp., celestial pearl danios, ember tetras, pymgy corydoras, and male endlers. There are more, but I can't think of them right now.
Well over the last two weeks I have gotten some new tanks up and acquired many of the fish listed. None of them are from the LFS except for two of the corydora habrosus. The shellies where acquired from a local breeder at the GCCA swap and the c. habrosus where wild caught and bought from a local GCCA member and also purchased at the swap. The H. formosa where shipped into Illinois but where wild caught by an aquabid seller in Florida
I'm really on the lookout for both badis badis and dario dario... I have yet to find a Celestial pearl danio but my eyes are pealed.
Multis (shell dweller pair) h. formosa h.formosa 2 c. habrosus
The shellies are courting and already showing an interest to breed... So I'm sure we'll see fry soon
Thanks, yes the local breeders have some awesome fish. It's defiantly worth the road trip to see some of the rarer species in person.
Actually I moved them into their own species tank. I've got some sand in their but I'm really trying to find some black sand since the white sand washed them out.
I set them in a quarantine tank until I could take a look at them at make sure they where free of disease/sickness.
I know, but then you could sell the larger ones or take them to the store for credit. And then you would use that credit to buy some more tiny little baby plecs.
Licorice Gouramis (especially Ornate Licorice Gouramis) are an awesome nano aquarium fish. You can easily lose a pair in a 5 gallon and they could be more than comfortable for life in a 2.5 gallon aquarium.
Yes! A 2.5 would be so fun to mini scape. I will keep my eyes peeled for those gourami. I have some least killifish that I will be using in my set up for now.
I also like using "critter keepers" as nanos. It's a cheap, easy and convenient way to make a cute desktop aquarium.
