Fish under an inch

I second the lampeye killis. I have never been a fan of typical schooling fish but I have about 10 of these guys and they are awesome! Whenever people see my tank they ask about the blue eye fish :)

I am also a huge fan of dario dario. A lot of personality in a small fish. They are fearless!

Something no one else has mentioned yet are shell dwellers. Now they aren't really community fish but they are facinating. Neolamprologus multifasciatus is a great beginner shell dweller. They form colonies where older fry will actually help take care of new fry. I have some Neolamprologus Occelatus "gold". Another fish with a lot of attitude. They will actually attack the siphon when vacuuming the tank. They have no idea they are tiny!

I know it's not a fish but dwarf cray fish are also pretty interesting. I love seeing them wave their tiny claws at me when I look in the tank. They are small enough to be safe with plants and small fish.

Also Sparkling Gouramis, the males may get slightly over an inch tho. I have a few of these fish and they are awesome i think, they color up pretty nicely and are super active, they stare back at you when you look into the tank. Clown killies are also another inch-ish fish, top dweller that Msjinkzd has available

Maybe some micro rasboras, baby plecos, pygmy gourami, pygmy loaches, pygmy puffers, etc.
Basically any freshwater fish that has pygmy in its name. :D
Hope that helped
What do you do when a baby pleco grows up?

The CPD are great I love them. I have only seen one or two. Would love to get my hands on some. I may have local access to some pea puffers Weds. So that may be in my rooms future. Those are some neat little fish. They aen't community fish but I heard they don't bother otos. The scarlett badis certainly is a beautiful fish.

@2rivers: That site is great looking. I may have to link to it. I said this in a prior post to another thread. I'm currently working on getting some killies. I live in IL and many international sellers can't/won't ship here. I have no idea what that's all about. I am however going to a swap meet in the Chicagoland area in a week or so. There is a vendor who will have some but I'll have to get there 30 minutes early and be at the door. They are hard to get out here if you don't know someone.

I've seen some really cool killies I would like to try. My best bet out here in the midewest is the killie clubs.

I would love to go collecting in Florida. They have those tiny yellow pygmy killies and wild h. formosa. It's not a far cry. It's a straight shot 19 hour drive. Might be a fun summer vacay.
