Advice - Inspection Sticker Fruad - What Should I Do?

One other possibility is that the guy had 2 similar vehicles. I had 2 84 monte carlo SS at one time and they were both the same color and everything, when I sold them I had to double check the VINs to make sure I was giving them the right title.

I know not all states have safety inspections so maybe you dont understand what this is regarding. Its not the title, its the inspection sticker. We have to have an inspection done yearly on our vehicles and get a sticker if we pass. The info on the sticker however indicates that it was issued for a different vehicle than the one it is currently applied to. This is not only illegal to do, but tips me off to the fact that there is something very wrong with the vehicle that would cause it to fail, and considering we bought it with the idea that it had passed inspection just a month prior, means it was sold under false pretenses.

It's true, in Florida we don't have inspections....we used to a long time ago in Miami (as a kid, I remember being in the backseat, waiting in the line with my mom driving) but somewhere along the line we stopped.

I hope it all works out for you. If your husband can't scare the **** out of the seller, perhaps you can? ;) Women can be more intimidating than men sometimes!

I sure hope it works out for you Amanda!! I hope that guy gets his sleazy butt thrown in jail! It's that kind of dealer that gives all car salesmen, a bad name!! Good luck!!

it was actually a personal sale, not a dealer. If it was a dealer, I wouldnt be worried about it because I KNOW id be able to get my money back. However it might not be so easy, we will see what happens, my hubby is going to call today.

How long have you had the car?

bought it saturday night, we started getting suspicious about it due to problems we found on the way home that night that the guy did not mention, so were unsure we wanted to keep it so we were holding off on getting it registered. The other day however I noticed the large discrepancies with the mileage and decided to check the vin #s and thats when I realized we got screwed.

Did you drive it since then? If so I'd try to gather any information that states what the miles said when you bought it. Also did you, or your hubby, sign anything when you bought it?

How did the phone call go?
