One other possibility is that the guy had 2 similar vehicles. I had 2 84 monte carlo SS at one time and they were both the same color and everything, when I sold them I had to double check the VINs to make sure I was giving them the right title.
I know not all states have safety inspections so maybe you dont understand what this is regarding. Its not the title, its the inspection sticker. We have to have an inspection done yearly on our vehicles and get a sticker if we pass. The info on the sticker however indicates that it was issued for a different vehicle than the one it is currently applied to. This is not only illegal to do, but tips me off to the fact that there is something very wrong with the vehicle that would cause it to fail, and considering we bought it with the idea that it had passed inspection just a month prior, means it was sold under false pretenses.
