29 Gallon Journal

im limited to petco and petsmart for fish so no paradise fish. i really dont think i should add anything else to the bottom either. any other suggestions? how many honey gouramis could i have or is 2 the most?

+1^
I also love opalines, but I would stick with smaller ones and more peaceful ones.

well, most fish I guess will, but I have no experience with dwarfs at all, I do have horrible experiences from petco opaline gouramis as the one I got which was the biggest in their over crowded 20G tank with 20+ gouramis in it. I got the giant one, and within the first hour of being in my tank it dissappeared, we looked everywhere only to find it curled up stuck to the filter, it was very weak, that prob. won't happen to you hopefully:)
I would pick the smallest one possible or whichever(only if the petco near you is good).

I have bad experience with petsmart, they were selling an arowana which was ~24 inches(2 ft) for $50 on sale, but they were keeping it in one of those 20L tanks:(

I guess you could train it to eat from your hand, etc. I do that with most of my fish which have personalities(dwarf cichlids(rams, etc.), angelfish, discus(sort of), plecos, and my betta).

could i get an opaline if i plan on upgrading to a 55gallon by christmas? all i need is the money. i have the room and the stand. plus permission from my mom bc she was going to get me one in the 1 gallon a gallon sale (im 15).

yeah, another young member, I'm 14;)

Yeah, you could do the opaline then, but try getting the smallest possible:)

I would get the 55G now, as the sale is going on NOW!(but it might be over today, not sure)
