Angels. Severums are too big for a 55 gal. The rule i go by is...

The width of the tank should be at least 2 times the length of the fish (so the fish can easily turn), and the length should be at least 3 times the length of the fish (so the fish can swim without immediately hitting the end)

I think it was 2 cutteri, and 3 green BNs.

Well you had 3 people tell you a 55 was too small and 1 that said it wasn't. Will it fit? Yes it will fit. But they are active fish. All over my 150. Will it be 12 inches long? probably not. Most likely will max 8-10 inches for a male and 8 inches or so for a female. Just because the fish will fit, doesn't mean it will be happy and thrive. If you do it anyway, please only put 1.

well actually ive had two people tell me it will fit and lots of websites. yea ill have 2 cutteri and 3 bristlenose(might take out 2 of these)

i have a tank big enough for either, but do angels bite at your fingers or watch you from the outside of the tank?

AAF, you need to listen to the advice given. If you don't want to listen then you should not have asked. Angels would be the better option for you. That's the advice the majority of the PEOPLE here have given. Use your judgement about sites that say they can fit. I've seen sites that say a 10in goldfish can live happily in a 20gal tank, doesn't make it true.

A baby sev would be fine in a 55g but I would not keep an adult sev in a 55g. My sevs are all pretty large (8" or so) and I cannot imagine keeping them in a 55g.

i do listen to the advice given and i hate it when people say im not. the sites are really legit. guess ill keep looking. i just dont see an angel haveing a big personality.
