This! It'll look awesome. Also, in your original post you say you have incandescent lighting but wondered if you should upgrade to t5. A happy medium would be to use the hood you have already and replace the bulbs with screw-in compact fluorescents like this the Aqueon Colormax Mini, the Marineland Natural Daylight, or this one at Walmart. (Can you tell I paid attention to what stores are available to you? Cuz I ROCK.) Your plants will grow better that way. Also, in regards to Walmart being one of your options (I recommend them for supplies only, not fish btw), you can always look to see what they have online. A lot of it is available with free shipping to your store if they don't stock it at yours.

i bought some 20 watt CFL's and they didnt fit in the hood so they might not fit if he gets the CFL's. also i would do a water change i your nitrates are that high. it can stall the cycle

Thanks for your consideration!!! BONUS POINTS TO YOU!!! :DD and yes... walmart is my supply place... but im gonna talk *bribe* my dad into completing my aquarium needs since i scored so high on the ACT and doubled my free college offers ;p

I have seen that light at walmart, but ive sorta been waiting and doing more research. lol. And their is a walmart in town, but the closest one with fish is about 30 miles away, and the closest pet co/petsmart are about 45 minutes away, in Birmingham AL. And i agree about walmart fish... i almost feel bad for the fish... the tanks ARE ALWAYS horrible!

I havent looked for light bulbs, but petmountain.com IS AWESOME!!! their prices are EXTREMELY nice!!

Almost missed this!! and i was planning on doing that this evening. everything seems to be going quick. My tank stays a little warmer than most, so i think that the bacteria grow a little quicker.. just my opinion..
