Mafia #98: The Grinch Returns -- The Play

i agree with what LG is saying... BUT.. this is his 2nd or maybe 3rd game and when you first start out you really wanna make it far and not get lynched, no matter what your role is.

I don't think spreading out the votes helps the scum all that much N1 when there was still a NC scum out there. Statistically having a three way tie increases the likelihood that their teammate is lynched. Now obviously knowing that it was DD makes it not matter but at the time they wouldn't have known. Not to mention the first day of the game is certainly confusing enough and I hardly doubt they could have keyed in on any roles by the times votes were placed...
I see what you are saying Pap, but I'm not willing to rule out they had something to do with the outcome, or that one of their own wasn't on the chopping block and they had to give in to some movement to save that person. I also agree they didn't key in on any roles, especially since they took one of there own :grinyes:!!

I know that also, which is why before his latest posting I really didn't say much about it. After what he was posting though, that is just another nich that has me wondering.

No surprise, but there's nothing more go on after rereading the posts. The roles being random doesn't help either. Scum could be anywhere.

From the singletons, I would question Rich and 2H for offering up good players at random this early on. That could hurt us if they're not evil. Between the current tying votes on UN, Dun, and 2H... nothing strikes me as particularly sinister in the votes.

Less than 2 hrs... I could add FF, Pappy, Rich, DD, or LG to the tie. FF is too easy and not around to post. And Pappy, Rich, DD, and LG are too valuable to lose for no reason, if it's a mistake.

Or vote UN, Dun, or 2H to break the tie with lots of time to gauge responses. Or add someone new to the running.

For now, I vote to lynch UN as a random pick to break the tie. And to see what happens, if anything, as a result.
My question to you here, you state that "as a random pick to break the tie" for you reason to vote UN, you seem to have put quite a bit of thought into this post, weighing all your options and reasons for things so how is this a "random" choice?

Yes, I understand the point from the individual's view...I get that. And yes this is a numbers game, but in saving yourself (when innocent)...it leaves so much doubt and questions of your actual motive behind it, in others minds that you very well may of brought on your own death sentence and in turn ended up with the town taking out 2 innocents (the one you saved yourself from , then yourself) so it isn't so helpful.

I understand that, and I agree with Rich that seeing as it can go either way it's not what I consider a scum tell. All I wanted to say was that if Dun is innocent I understand why he made the decision.

I know Pap, and it isn't something I solely base my thoughts on, it is just something that adds up with other things to me nowadays.

i'm looking like an easy target again, it seems. maybe someone grilling me will be willing to answer some of my questions some time? i've answered every question thus far over something painstakingly obvious in my opinion... evidenced by the fact that this game definitely looks like a game of dun vs. ..............
What questions were not answered?

I honestly don't think Dun would make that decision if innocent.

I don't doubt there could have been switching to keep scum from being lynched but I do doubt they tried to make it a tie in the first place. I don't see why there would be a strategic reason to do so...

LG said he mentioned he wouldn't be around before the game started. it was every post concerning the game since the beginning of the sign up thread. i'm not sure of his reasoning for him saying he wasn't going to be around... especially since he didn't mention it until the game actually was in play. that's not to say he wasn't actually working, but he seems to always find a way anyway IME. yes, it's slim pickins, but only a beginning of my suspicion towards hi this game.

good to know, LG... i have a knack and hoped i wasn't utilizing it unknowingly.

Whats the rest of you suspicion, or have you not come up with it yet?

true... but look at the game... nearly 1/3 of the posts are me having to defend myself for something i see as obvious. it's really distracting from anything useful, actually.

Not neccessarily, it could show that either you or the ones making you "defend yourself" are scum. I think that you realized been backtracking way too much already, and that this post was your attempt to stop it. So far your play has been very sloppy, and that combined with 2h's flip last night and your vote on him, I vote to lynch dun
