teenagers of AC

they have lived a life similar to yours, probably worse. we teens really dont appreciate the advantages we have now that they didnt have back then. kids had to work for a car back then and make their own money until they could get a car, they didnt just get it handed to them. you've gotta learn to work for what you want. not just complain bc your parents wont buy it for you.

"Sorry, but I needed to vent that. Plus the edit buttons doesnt seem to be working. I know they are trying to do what is best, but it is at the worst time and in the worst way. They do things and say things like they mean for them to be bad. I do decent in school, mostly A's and B's. I wish I could just let them live my life for one day. Paying for me to study for a test I wont take for another year doesnt make sense. I wont remember anything from it by then AND I will probably forget what I am learning now in school in order to "make room" for the studying stuff. Hence my normal grades would go down. "I wish I could just let them live my life for one day.Maybe you could use a few living theirs and the obligations they have. You don't learn from a test other than how to learn to take tests.Grades go down...bc....false logic.

Well the way I see it, parents are not going to be there for you forever. When I was in high school, I worked part time, after class and on weekends. I did pretty decent. Did all my homework, worked, and had time for friends. You just have to be organized. I still work part time, pay my own college tuition, bills, and whatever I want. My parents made me get a job in high school because they wanted me to learn how it is in the real world. All my siblings had to get a job when they turned 16. My parents only help out when I really need them to and has to be related to school only, which is rarely. I try to help my parents pay house bills when I have extra cash. In my opinion, you should sign up for your own tests and other stuff. Don't rely on your parents to do that for you. You should be responsible and do it yourself. Yes, I also have the strict Asian parents that want perfect grades.

"false logic" Maybe in your mind, but in my experience if I set my goal to do really good and study for one thing, I kind of forget other stuff I have recently and not so recently learned and I remember what I am studying for. Trust me, I have experienced it several times having 2 math classes within an hour of each other and chemistry honors in between (pretty much all math the first half of the year). That is just how it works for me. I have no doubt that it works different for other people. The way they are approaching it, everything seems more like,
:nutkick:

I know they are trying to do the best for me, but it really seems like a wrong approach on both of our ends. I show no interest in it at all, they are 10x more interested in it than I am. I learn best with hands on things, and I love physics, electronics, building computers, and so on.

Nevermind, I give up trying to make my point. My mind and ways are different than yours, and that is just how it is.

Hey, the enter key worked. I wonder if the edit key works now. YAY! it does

nerdyrcdriver, I just noticed that you said your in Science Olympiad! If you don't mind me asking, what state are you in? My middle school went to States a few times and it is a blast! My highschool usually goes to Nationals, where we usually don't do too great... Fingers crossed for better luck this year!

I am in IL. We go to just about every invite we can other than whatever is this saturday. I am in gravity vehicle, robot arm (I got a few tricks up my sleeve for this one. And over $200 in parts that I got for free for it), and helicopters. I was in mission possible last year but they dont have that this year. As a school, we are kind of high up there, not the top dog. We did make it to state last year. I dont remember how we did, I just remember the black ops in the hotel room at 2 am, and some amazing mint hot chocolate from somewhere. If you want to know a little more, send me a pm. There is only so much I will openly post in a thread that anyone could find.

i have no idea what a science olympiad is and im sure i dont want to either.

In short, it is like a track and field meet for your brain utilizing testing and building skills by competing in events such as making a car that goes down a ramp and stops at the distance the judges tell you, or taking a test on microbiology.
