free fish from walmart :)

ill just leave the tank sit dry for a few days, that should work, dont have bleach and rather not use it (to paranoid )

Should work for what? Fungus? Probably not. Bacteria? Maybe. Parasites? I shudder to think. You use dechlorinator, right? Check it out- bleach is CHLORINE. empty the tank, bleach it out good, let it dry in the sun, then dechlorinate it. Twice, if you're paranoid..
I really do get the urge to rescue. I've spent thousands upon thousands of dollars curing, rehabbing, and giving palliative care to rescued dogs. The problem its that if the best of intentions aren't tempered with good information, proper diagnosis, realism and a pragmatic approach then you don't end up helping anyone.

true, and yes i will take this as a learning expierence, so far the lastone seems to have ich still but swimming and eating...

Do you have an air pump in the tank to help with surface agitation to help with the oxygen in the water? Oxygen decreases in higher heat

No no no. I'm sure his infinite wisdom is correct. Infact, I bet all that sterilization and vector control that hospitals use is just to pad the bill and balloon the cost of medical care. If they would just let the instruments "sit for a few days" all the really bad stuff will have died off by then. It worked in 1865 right? Polio is cured with hope, prayer, salt and a lil heat.

Seriously, Livebearerfreak, do you actually listen to yourself? You are "paranoid" about about bleach but think "letting it dry for a few days" will kill whatever funk four walmart fish brought into your system. You come on here asking for advice and regardless of how much science can be put behind it, if said advice goes against your belief or approach, you ignore it. Disgusts me.

the filter produces way enough disturbance so the O2 is fine

Perhaps it produces enough for a tank that DOESN'T have the heat jacked up and salt added, but when it does, you need ADDITIONAL O2 because the heat and salt rob it from the water. I believe it was also mentioned earlier in this thread, but you obviously disregarded it.

I'm almost afraid to ask, but was your hospital tank even cycled when you put them in? Or did you really put 4 messy cichlids with known health problems in a 10g uncycled tank, and expect something good to happen?

You can't "rescue" any animal if you don't know what you're doing BEFORE accepting responsibility for it's life, and refuse to listen to others with more exper.... why am I getting the strangest feeling of deja vu? Oh yes, that's right, it's because we've all told you these things before!!!

You have to look at the situation now, and wonder, "what if someone that actually knew how to properly care for sick fish had taken them in instead?" "Would the fish still be alive today?".

The idea of being "rescued to death" is a frightening one, to be sure!

Okay folks...lets get back on track and keep the personal slams out of here..thanks!
