The end may be near for my AC experience

I will say as a brand spanking new member, I have already found a new forum to try and become a apart of. From the beginning this forum rubbed me the wrong way...between the negative comments and rude behavior. Also I am not sure if there are not a lot of active members on here or if post just knowingly get ignored but it doesn't help. I want to be active on here but until I see a change, I wont be posting much if at all.

I love the app and how awesome the site looks and is laid out though, on a positive note.

Seems like the mods are no longer interested in doing their jobs or perhaps their hands have been tied and can't. Regardless of which, I would certainly like to see a bit more exercise of moderating and not controlling. Many comments coming from newly joined members have been out of control and downright nasty at times. Along with that has come more rudeness of longer established members that know better but choose not to exercise self control and I am at a loss as to why. I feel that there are no valid reasons to report this behavior to invisible mods.

Last I checked, there was more than one mod on this site. So to those mods that wish to remain invisible, I suggest you turn in your crown and let it be passed on to someone that is willing to do the job, or else start moderating.

For those that want to be nasty, go be a troll somewhere else. This is not the site to be a monitor warrior.

Amen.

Just a reminder..there is a report thread/post icon. Complaining about it weeks later or 200 posts down the road with your "I am leaving thread" isn't really pro-active.

I believe that the anonymity of the internet fosters the attitudes under discussion. It's much easier to be rude to a monitor than to the guy who's standing at your front door.

I have a lot of respect for you but so we are clear, I did not post this weeks after the comment AND it wasn't 200 posts later....I never said I was leaving I simply said I was considering it, YES it was rude what was said to LBF and I posted about it. Has this now become a dictatorship where we are not allowed to express our feelings? I have used that report button MANY times to report spam only to see it go for hours and sometimes days without being taken care of. At least this way I know someone sees it. I do agree with Excuzzzeme however, I bet most of the people here now don't even know who some of the mods are, considering it has been MONTHS since I have seen some of them.

Pet...my comment wasn't directed at you at all...

First off, please don't leave pet! I always think you bring great insight and experience to whatever situation arises. But at the same time, I do know firsthand that some time away can be a good thing.

I will be one of the first to say that I really enjoy the AC staff and appreciate all the work they have put in to making this site run smoothly ( the past 5 or so years I've been a member. I've become as good of friends as you can over the internet with many. That being said, I too have noticed that some mods have gone invisible lately. Now, I know that they can still visit the site without posting, but it seems like I only see one or two of the same mods jumping in if a thread goes downhill. It may be because it is summer or whatever, but it has certainly become noticeable.

I apologize if I posted in haste

My goal here is not to have people beg me not to leave, my intention is to call attention to the nastiness that is occurring within our community, this is something that I have not experienced here before (the reason I have stayed so long) but it seems as though it has become the norm in conversation as of late.

Even only being here since May I have seen a difference from then to now. I kinda saw these topics coming after how it has been in the last week and a half. Up to the point though I have made some great friends on here. Greech has had my back since day 1 of trying to get my salt tank going, platytudes has given me all kinda of advice especially in the feeding department, and all the other cool people that reply to my threads helping me out and helping me learn more and more about this hobby every day.

When I get into something new I always want to know everything right away (as evidenced by me posting over 600 times in a month) and this place has been great for that but, even more so, my favorite thing about this place in particular is most of the threads I participate in don't devolve in any way and actually evolve into a discussion either about something else or delving deeper into the subject at hand. I've never experienced that before and it is something that keeps me coming back here everyday
