my tiger barbs arent very active..

I'd say give them some peas. A high protein diet can cause any number of problems, and that's literally all you're providing. Some fish do well on that, but IME, barbs need some veg to do well.

Good idea. It could be something as simple as an awful case of constipation, and not a parasite.

A high protein diet is good for some fish. Barbs need more of a variety in their diet which someone already pointed out . You could crush up some peas and use that to help their digestive system. Btw the reason your rams have such great color now is probavly because of all tye protein from the frozen foods. Cichlids usually get better color wuen they have a good protein source but once again its not healthy for the rams. Too much bloodworms can lead to bloat

okay. bloodworms will be more of a treat. i got picked up omega one freshwater flake to feed the majority of the time. petco took the 12 barbs back. i picked up 12 barbs from petsmart, and theyre schooling and swimming all over together.

but the two rams have been in a corner behind ornaments for the day. i assumed they were getting ready to drop eggs, the females tube thing is more out there now too.... BUT i just saw the male come out, flick on the heater 3 times, go to fake driftwood, flick 2 times, and then go back to the female. i hope i didnt have a parasite..and if i did, i hope it didnt get to the rams. maybe hes just stressed cause 12 curious barbs keep going back to their corner.

1) why did u just get new fish when u have no idea what the prob is lol...not trying to call u out, but yea

2) idk if anybody stated this, but GBRs LIKE warm water, around 82F+ which means they are INCOMPATIBLE with tiger barbs, it may not be noticeable now, but the fish(whichever are in the wrong temp) will be stressed...i know some sites state temps should be 78F-86F for GBRs, but I have owned them and known quite a few others with them, and nobody kept tanks lower than 82F...so either you need to rehome GBRs or barbs(or return if possible)...

3) try and do 25% WCs daily for a while, and maybe, if you suspect parasites, dose maracyn(liquid or powder) as a preventive med or actually treatment if they have it...but don't dose until you are somewhat sure or see any surefire signs of parasitic disease...

4) can you try getting pics of GBRs? and what is your tank pH?

5) good luck:) hope they make it!

1) i dont know! you're right. but im like a little kid.. :/
2) yikes
3) im looking every day. all the fish (the new and the old) are flicking. but no signs of ich. and theres no white poop coming from the fish either (so maybe i never had parasites?). flicking is the only symptom. what does maracyn treat?
4) yes i can..but they look fine and normal. last night the male kept picking at the female, and chasing ehr away. but they're back together now behind a statue. i dont have a ph test kit.
5) thanks. skrillex is legit, by the way

well, my girlfriend just noticed eggs on our rock/cave ornament in the corner that the rams have been staying at. they blend in so well with the cave, i never noticed them.

Your rams might be going aggro-house on the barbs. If it is your food, trying feeding a protein based twice a week while sticking to veggie based foods normally :)

it's okay:) i used to do that all the time, still do sometimes now, impulse buys haha even when i know i don't have space or compatibility...
based on the "flicking" as you call it, it is prob due to their guarding of the eggs you mentioned? most likely...
you will probably want to rehome the barbs or the GBRs in the long run...I'd rehome barbs as GBRs look WAY nicer IMO haha...+ breeding is fun too!
now that you have eggs, it is ESSENTIAL to keep the water fresh/clean or they will die/get fungus...if you have access to methylin blue, use it as it will prevent eggs from dying from fungus/infection...otherwise keep up WCs

good luck with babies:D

+1...omega makes really nice Veggies Flakes, maybe try those out!
