Black beard algae?

Thanks Freshy fresh!!! for answering my question! When and if you ever use it, please, let me know how it works for you! :)

Will do. In fact, I just mail-ordered a gallon jug of Metricide 14 for $21 shipped. Worst case, my fish will be totally disinfected, clean as a whistle.

Because if I ever want to jump to sw, I don't ever have to go buy another fixture. I think about the possibilities in the future when buying something like a light fixture. And besides, why not?

Nothing wrong with a bit of future proofing.

clean as dead?

Hopefully not!

I'll just have to research the dosing. Metricide 14 is ~2.6% glutaral, where products like API liquid CO2 add are ~1.6% I believe. I add ~5.5 mL/day to my 55g w/ API's glutaral product. Probably have to go to 3mL or so with Metricide.

Thought I would post an update. I got my new fixture about 5 days ago. I have treated twice by double dosing with Excel and a syringe. Today while I was doing my wc, I grabbed my java ferns which were worse off by far, sprayed some peroxide on them, and let them sit about 5 min before putting them back in the tank. This is what they look like now.

So far I haven't seen it get worse, but haven't seen a big difference yet on the other plants and decor...

The biggest thing impacting my BBA has been more bacopa growth. I haven't spot treated BBA in a few weeks, and there's still less of it than there was.

I'm about a week into dosing my tanks daily with Metricide 14. Plants doing well as are all my tank critters. Metricide has the exact odor as the API liquid CO2 I had been using. Only difference I can tell is it's 2.6% glut as opposed to the ~1.6% with the API product. I've been dosing about 3mL/day for the 55 and 0.5mL/day for the 10g. This ~$20 gallon should last me a loooooong time.

Indeed it does have an apple juice kind of odor to it.
