My tanks

Soooo, im sure amazon will have some jests about this, but i wasnt happy. The snails destroyed so much of the hornwort and made such a horrible mess of it that it took several water changes to remove all the dead plant bits that they chewed off.

And amazon pointed out the lack of vertical obstacles in the scape.

So, totally hardscape only. I tried recreating our native river. Once the apple snails are gone and have lived out their days, ill be adding in some plants. Thinking vals would work nice, or just stick with anacharis. Both are native here.


Of course, the fish arent native.

My native river has a lot of wood snags and rocky shorelines from breakwaters. Lots of floating driftwood. All my rocks and wood are even collected... shells and pebbles collected from the sandy beaches all mixed in as well.
If i could grow some nice hair algae, then it'd be even more like our native riverfronts lol

You don't quit do you? Where'd you put the hornwort?

Looks soooooooooooooooooooooo much better! But you'll change it in a week or so. <sigh>

I put the nice hornwort in my 46 for now, it may stay, i may move it, i dont know yet.

The chewed up snags or the super tiny bits i put in a jar of old tank water and sat it in my window to recover without it being picked at. Once it grows nice ill figure out a place for it.

I know im gonna get some bad tannins for awhile from the new wood. That huge piece especially. Ill need to break out the charcoal, i dont want tannins in this tank.

Because i have two filters on either side. Theres another filter intake tube hiding behind the wood!! And the bubbles wouldnt be enough to hide it to be honest.

I have another heater im planning on swapping with the one this tank has. I can hide that one horizontally better.

Personally I no longer use them except for a heater that is built in to the Eheim Pro.

I added photos of the equip in the back to my last post.

I use an eheim in my 46g and looove it. It's easy to hide and very functional. The heater in this tank... it works but its ancient. Id like to move it to my fry bucket lol

I NEED plants in my tanks, its not just a want for me. I have nitrates in my tap water D: i use nitrazorb and plants. So i have at least the lucky bamboo since i cant plant the heck out of this one like my others :/

Hopefully my apple snails cant reach their roots and eat them too lol
 
Im impressed how well you hide your filters!
I use a ehime jager too and love it.
TL, I like your idea of a 'branch' heater. :)
