Thank you so much!! My goal is to keep it as natural looking as possible. I have no clue about the java fern. All I can say is, low pH, 10ppm of nitrates, and a high powered light that is dimmed with electrical tape.
All of my java fern are babies that grew on two tiny bundles of java fern that I got from a pet store. The adult plants died so I plucked off all the babies and just let them grow!
Just did another water change yesterday and accidentally added WAY too many tannins.... ? I also changed it up slightly. I took out as much of the super tiny twigs as I could and added some thicker twigs, which has helped with the look in my opinion. It's also starting to get too overgrown and will need to be trimmed this weekend. I'll try to get some pictures soon, I have an exam in 5 minutes but I'll be free after that!

There is. When the tank is so dark the plants don't gen enough light.No such thing as too much tannins

But with tannin stained water, theres little if any plants... so again, NEVER TOO MUCH TANNINS haha

Okay so I got some pictures, I’m not 100% happy with them so I’ll probably try to take some more tomorrow. The super up close picture doesn’t even look like there’s any tannins in there but as you can see from the far away picture there’s definitely a lot. In person it’s really dark, I just have a cool camera
