Amazontanklvr's tank build/blog

Don't buy from discus.com.

They are a drop seller in NYC.

The tetra pic was stolen from aquahuna, their discus pics are stolen from Kenny's discus and Gabe posada and many more places.
Im aware of that.

Bu I did talk to someone that has hade very good experiences with them. 3 times in a row.

I'll look into them more

Ok
So a no go on Discus.com
I'll try TRiN's. Im gonna get the small kerris and cross my fingers. I'll be getting 12 of them. I never got the stargrrass (was out of stock) but I'll be ordering some 6 in+ stem plants that should help.
Should be ordering this week or next.
Wish me luck! :)

Nice! Ludwigia repens is very beautiful. Gets nice red undersides to the leaves. Grows kinda slow for me, compared to stargrass, but nice to have for sure.

I plant my swords and dwarf swords in pots with soil and capped with PFS and/or gravel. But it should do well enough with a root tab.

Nice, sag! You mean dwarf sag? It makes a nice carpet plant for slopes and fish that like to uproot (dig a bit) bc the roots get nice and long.

Can't wait to see how they do for you :)

It is very pretty. As long as it grows. Oh and I just ordered stargrass!

Btw my vals still haven't started growing. ?‍♀️ My amazon is doing fine.

Yes. Well mine dont do too much but I see your point. :)

Im crossing my fingers. I have awful water so I'll probably be getting some peat soon.

Vals usually like hard water, so I bet they are just being stubborn. Did they send out runners while they were floating? I thought you said they grew a bit floating. They might do better if they were taller and leaves had access to atmospheric co2. Idk, they seem to really take off and propagate once the leaves hit the surface.

I hate to tell you, but my val took two years to spread into another val plant in one of my 33gs. I think the substrate nutrients are used up because I had a forest of val in my other 33g with a newer and deeper soil substrate. Just to let you know.

My dwarf sag also does best with soil, but a piece of root tab may help.

I live in Arizona! I have a pH or 8 and a gH of 13. What more could they want??? They grew a little. No runners.

Oh, gee. lucky me!

Im crsooing my fingers. I may replace the substrate in a few months but That will only be after I get my breeding going. :)

I don't think you have to replace the substate. That's a big deal and could upset everything. Breeding takes consistency I find. But maybe float your val so it grows taller? Then plant it when leaves reach the top? Just a suggestion.

I'll be honest, when I first got my vals they were itty bitty things and just sat in my 21" deep tank. I gave them to a friend who had shallow tanks and he gave me a bunch back. The ones he gave back did really well in my newish setup tanks. I think it needs to get going before planting in deep tanks is what i'm saying.
