Amazontanklvr's tank build/blog

I don't think you have to replace the substate. But maybe float your val so it grows taller? Then plant it when leaves reach the top? Just a suggestion.

I'll be honest, when I first got my vals they were itty bitty things and just sat in my 21" deep tank. I gave them to a friend who had shallow tanks and he gave me a bunch back. The ones he gave back did really well in my newish setup tanks. I think it needs to get going before planting in deep tanks is what i'm saying.
Ok, I'll try it. ?‍♂️ But I don't really like my substrate anyway. lol

Oh, ok. I got that. ;)

It's hot here. And priority is SOOO much cheaper than overnight so do you think that fish'll be fine?

Hard to say 100%

I only have overnight available to me when buying fish. Ive had one DOA with that shipping

But on the other hand ive had delayed shipping due to a blizzard and fish still arrived alive longer with 2 days in transit in bad weather.

Ok, thanks for your experience.
But what would you say?

Im a realistic person who tends to be more on the pessimistic side.

I would say, take some cautious optimism. Theyre more likely stored indoors for the weekend. So it wont be as hot. If theyve been mailed out already, that is.

Do you have a tracking # for it? I think you told me the order was sent out Thursday? Or was it placed Thursday? Check the shipping policies of the site you ordered from.

My usual place does not ship livestock after Wednesdays to prevent it getting stuck in transit on weekends. So if i place an order on Thursday, its not mailed out until monday and id get it the tuesday.

Oh, no. Not that one. The one that I was going to order this weekend that'll be shipped Monday (hopefully) for plants and kerris.

The stargrass I ordered Wensday has already been shipped. I ordered form APF which has a great reputation and a good grantee. I think it'll survive.

Oh then if its just plants, you should be fine for at least a week. Most plants can do fine with that

Ok, good

But I was origionally talking about the heat with fish AND plants in the mail.

I would suggest overnight. It's a cost but it's worth it. Even a few extra hours in a bag can kill.

Im going to put it this way. I will wait if I have to spend 90$ on shipping for some fish and a few plants.
