I lived in Temecula back in 04 in a new subdivision and we were the first to put in irrigation. Apparently the water drew in all the black widows in the area. Our yard was covered in their little spiral nests, they were falling from the ceiling, in the laundry, shower, behind the toilet. And we had an infant. We had a professional take care of it and he said it was the worst widow infestation he’s ever seen. Ever see arachnophobia?LOL, thank goodness I shower alone, spiders are scary enough excitement![]()
Thank you, it’s been while since I kept any herpsWe didn't know they were black widows until the house flipper nextdoor came over to tell us...at least ours were outdoors. I wouldn't want to meet them in the shower...
Our neighborhood mountain has tarantulas that, in breeding season, males swarm all over. It's a "thing" I won't be observing in person...call me chicken...I like my wildlife from a distance.
I'm glad your new pet is adapting well! I'm not too sorry about the thread diversion, it's been interesting & that's how friends do it![]()
Haha, ya salton sea is like some post apocalyptic stuff. Bombay Beach is cool in a creepy sort of way. 4wheeling is the only thing I enjoy more than fish. I used to go out there almost every weekend for years. Those blooms are amazing thoughOh no! I don't think I'm up to sharing a tent with black widows, no matter how shy they may be...camping may be beyond my idea of fun...in CA at least. We did the Ansa Borrego many years ago (husband's pro meeting in SD & vacation after) & got to see some desert blooms...& got lost by the Salton Sea on our way back in the very dark...![]()
