I love your fry pics, everybody is so big now. Congrats on the hoplos, that's so cool!! How many fry did you get from them this first time?
May there be many more fry in your future, you've got the knack with many species.
The hoplos was pure surprise, was a community tank spawning. Woke up one morning to the male guarding one of the anubias leaves he had ripped off one of my plants. Underside of the floating leaf coated with a bunch of yellow eggs.
Over 150 eggs laid, about 80ish fry hatched. Of course early days there are losses and all, but I got a couple dozen going strong.
And videos from the early days
It's neat but also nerve wracking as not many people work with the hoplo group as it is, but this species has no info on spawning or fry care, so been going into it using experience with cory fry and anabantoid fry. Their starting development is very similar to anabantoids, where they hatch under developed and cling to the nest for a couple days, but then they become more corydoras like.
So that's been an adventure. Been raising them on remineralized RO water as well.
Of course, I'll be keeping one baby for myself. It's a big achievement getting them to even spawn naturally apparently, usually they are artificially induced via hormones in farm settings.
