Do fish FEEL PAIN ? I think that is the BIG Q? Dont realy know my self but have read lots and still dont know? Me personaly i think there must be some sort of pending death.I always give my fish as much meds and time i can. Just cant kill them:eek: But i would not freeze them to death:huh:

do they feel pain? yes. why do you think the less dominant male blue gourami jets from the dominant male blue gourami? he knows he is going to be hurt when the mosr dominant male attacks him.
exactly. pain is one of the best and most versitale tools of survival, why would animals who struggle even more than wildabeest on the african savannah to survive (in some cases) be immune to pain? also, some fish have brains as complicated as some mammals. mammals feel pain, so why not an organism with a brain JUST as complicated? I think they did a study and found that the nerve signals a fish sends when it has been hurt show that they do indeed feel pain.

how is flushing fish down the toilet a good way to go? They dont die when they are flushed, they probably die cause they're breathing in crap, that would kill anyone though and I dont think that its a painless way either, suffocating on poop.
I personally would not like to be flushed down the crapper and breathing in that stuff.

just because they feel pain does not mean they are gonig to die. if every time a fish felt pain they died, nobody would be able to keep fish because they would all be dead before they got to the stores. in fact, there would probably be almost no fish anywhere, especially cichlids and other terretorial fish because they fight all of the time.

I don't believe it takes pain for an animal to know to run from a predator. they are taught to run .it's a earned response.

if they had to wait to learn from pain they would be less of the animals and more with scars.

do i beieve tha animal feels pain..yes..but to what degree.

if it has a nervous system, it will feel pain. if it has nerves running throughout its body, it will feel pain.
that is the whole reason for the nervous system. to send and recieve electrical impulses. every time a nerve is activated it sends an impulse to the brain. that is how you feel and recieve pain. every time a negative impulse goes to the brain it is percieved as pain, and the organism knows to move to stop it. why do you think an oscar will move when it gets nipped by a convict?
