tattooed fish is ok

in Rome they had enough sense to actually ban fish bowls entirely.

Just saw this image of a tattooed fish...boy that really sticks in my craw. :dance2:

But yeah the entire thing is messed up. There is no law about dying chickens either but they quickly swooped in to grab those off the market. Stupid double standard that fish dont have feelings and every other creature does Im taking it as.

I think it's the case that fish are not legally classified as "animals", just like mice and rats are not (they're classified as "vermin"). So animal treatment laws don't apply.

Personally, having raised a bunch of chickens, I don't think putting some food coloring on chicks is a big deal. I don't see how it does them any harm, and believe me, they're too stupid to be embarassed...

In my opinion the fish do look healthy. But i still think it is wrong for two ressons. One there are so many different types of fish that are stripped and colorful like fancy guppies and tetras, to even bother with harming fish that aren't supposed to have those colorations. Second they don't talk about how many fish probably die during the injections. Probably 60 - 70 percent of the fish being dyed are put through alot of stress. For these reasons i oppose what they have done.:mad2:

a bit of an add-on to your post...

yes they did "look" "healthy" but soon they will most likely be dead or riddled with disease. just take glassfish for example. when they are first brought into the stores, they "look" healthy, but within a couple of days, they have ich, lymphocystis, or velvet.

Afriend of mine moved and gave me 2 blue fish (Black skirt tetras). I am amazed that they are still around after more than 2 years. They are almost white now and I don't think they will ever get thier colors back now. But it is a pretty cruel thing to do to a helpless little creature for the sake of a buck.

Actually mice and rats have enjoyed a steady increase of popularity over the years as pets. The "vermin" view towards them is lessening. Fish, however are not considered animals by most people that can feel pain unfortunately and the population as a whole knows very little about them except that....

goldfish+bowl= happy child!

It's very sad.
